MAJOR PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

Study on Fly Ash Generation & Utilisation for The Fly Ash Mission, TIFAC, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India .

The study was carried out in the States of Madhya Pradesh & Orissa. As part of the study, about 100 organisations were contacted personally with the help of structured questionnaires. The study report highlighted present estimated fly ash generation and utilisation; projections for fly ash generation and utilisation up to 2009/10; and recommendations for promotion of enhanced fly ash utilisation.

International Workshop on Barriers and Utilisation Options for Large Volume Application of Fly Ash in India for USAID .

The workshop was organised on Feb 5,2000 at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi and there were about 90 participants from all over India and from foreign countries including USA and Germany. The Workshop was sponsored by USAID under the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Prevention Project and was organised in association with the Fly Ash Mission, NTPC and the National Energy Technology Laboratory ( U.S. Department of Energy).
Fifteen papers were presented in four sessions : Government Policies & Standards, Geomaterials and Agriculture Applications , constructions Applications / Technologies, and Economics / market Analysis and Financing. The outcome was in the form of a printed document containing: identified major barriers and fly ash utilisation options ; independent analysis of the consultants on current Fly Ash utlisation scenario in India; and papers presented at the workshop and those submitted for publication. The document was circulated widely among the participants and other concerned agencies.

Market Assessment Study and Techno-Economic Feasibility Report on Fly Ash Bricks Manufacturing Project for IFFCO, Phulpur

The captive thermal power plant of IFFCO currently generates about 0.16 million tonnes of ash annually which is expected to reach a level of 0.2 million tonnes in near future. About 50% of the ash generated at present is being utilised for applications including supply to cement industries and in agriculture. In order to enhance ash utilisation, IFFCO is interested in setting up a state-of-art fly ash brick manufacturing plant at Phulpur. The market survey report and T.E.F.R provided IFFCO with an independent analysis on market demand, product quality desired by major end-users, technical and economic feasibility of the project, source of technology, marketing strategy to be adopted etc., based on which the brick plant would be set up.

Market Survey on Ash-Based Sintered Lightweight Aggregates for the National Thermal Power Corporation, New Delhi

NTPC's Dadri and Badarpur Thermal Power Stations together generate approximately 6400 tonnes/day of fly ash. Disposal of fly ash is a great problem, and NTPC intends to utilize the ash as a resource to manufacture useful products such as sintered lightweight aggregates. The market survey was carried out in Delhi and the adjoining areas. As part of the study about 150 organisations were contacted.
The market survey report covered major consumption centres for stone aggregates, major application areas, major end-user organisations and their requirements, Government policies and standards on the products, projected demand for stone aggregates till year 2014/15, possible substitutions by ash aggregates , demand projections for ash aggregates, marketing strategy for ash aggregates.
